Is your Medicare Advantage plan ending or changing?
A plan change does not mean you lose Medicare. Before choosing replacement coverage, check your doctors, hospitals, prescriptions, costs and enrollment deadlines.

When a Medicare Advantage plan changes or leaves a market, the right replacement depends on more than an advertised extra benefit. A useful review starts with the coverage you actually use.
✓ Doctors & hospitals
Check your primary doctor, specialists, hospitals and health systems before making a change.
✓ Prescriptions
Review your medications, formulary coverage, pharmacy network and expected drug costs.
✓ Your full options
Compare Medicare Advantage, Original Medicare + Part D, and Medicare Supplement options when applicable.
If your plan leaves the market, you still have choices.
1. Read your notice
Confirm the date your current plan ends and keep the notice for your records.
2. Compare the full fit
Check networks, drugs, out-of-pocket costs and benefits—not just one advertised extra.
3. Use your enrollment rights
A plan non-renewal can create special enrollment rights. Some people may also have Medigap guaranteed-issue rights.

Common questions
Will I lose Medicare if my Medicare Advantage plan leaves?
No. Your Medicare entitlement does not disappear because a private Medicare Advantage plan leaves the market. Your next steps depend on the notice you receive and the coverage you choose.
Can I choose another Medicare Advantage plan?
Often yes. A plan non-renewal can provide an additional enrollment opportunity beyond the normal Annual Enrollment Period.
Can I return to Original Medicare?
Depending on your situation and timing, you may return to Original Medicare. You should also consider prescription drug coverage and whether a Medicare Supplement policy is appropriate.
Can I buy a Medicare Supplement without medical underwriting?
When a Medicare Advantage plan leaves Medicare or stops serving your area, federal guaranteed-issue protections may let you buy certain Medigap plans without being denied because of your health. These rights have deadlines, so keep your plan's termination notice.
What should I check before switching plans?
Your doctors, specialists, hospitals, medications, preferred pharmacy, expected costs, travel needs, and any eligibility you may have for a Special Needs Plan.
